Movers Brooklyn, NY FAQ
When does the billing time start? |
Work time starts when the crew arrives at your pick-up location. Work time stops when the goods are unloaded at the drop-off location and the crew is ready to leave. |
What is Travel Time for? |
Travel time is added to work time and is applied to compensate for the time it takes the crew to come to your pick-up location and then to return after the move is done. Local Zone covers all of Manhattan and most of Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx. |
What if I am moving out of town, but not too far? |
If the drop-off location is outside the Local Zone, the same hourly rate applies, but there will be additional travel time for the crew to return to Brooklyn. Please note also that customer pays all tolls. |
When do I pay? |
Normally, payment in full must be received by the crew's foreman at the time of unloading at the drop-off location. |
Which forms of payment do you accept? |
All moves are done on the C.O.D. basis. The bill must be paid in cash or with a postal money order. Sorry, but we cannot accept checks, only cash and certified checks. |
Do you do last-minute jobs? |
Yes, of course. If you need it right away and if we have availability, we will try to accommodate you. |
How far in advance should I reserve? |
We finalize our job schedule at around 11 p.m. for the next day, so please try to reserve before 11 p.m. if you are requesting a pick-up on the following day. Generally, reserving a few days ahead is a good idea. |
I'll have my own truck. Can you just provide men? |
Sure, we can send you men to load or unload it. |
I'm moving to a 2-storey walkup. Does it matter? |
Unlike most companies, we do not charge extra for stairs, unless you have extremely large and heavy item(s) such as a piano or a huge projection TV. If you have several flights of stairs a larger than usual tip amount is customary and expected. |
My building requires special insurance. Can you provide it? |
Yes. We provide one free of charge. |
